Social Security Case Outcomes

Nicholas Romer successfully argued that his client was entitled to Social Security Disability benefits with 3 1/2 years of back pay totaling over $63,000.

In September 2019, attorney Nick Romer obtained a fully-favorable decision of a Social Security Disability client that suffered from severe mental illness. Attorney Romer convinced the Administrative Law Judge to reopen the client’s prior applications (that were previously denied at the initial level) and obtained an award for back pay from 2015 to the present, totaling in excess of $57,000.00.

Criminal Case Outcomes

Nicholas Romer filed suit against an employer who terminated his client months prior to her pension vesting in violation of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Nicholas successfully settled the case with his client receiving her fully vested pension and the employer paying for his client’s lost wages and attorney fees.

Bill McDonald negotiated a policy limits settlement in an underinsured motorist claim involving a McDonald Pierangeli Macfarlane, PLLC, client who was injured in an out-of-state accident. The insurance company involved made no initial settlement offer only to pay its UIM policy limits in advance of trial.

Bill McDonald and Dave Pierangeli prevailed in an insurance coverage dispute resulting in an award of damages, costs and interest in excess of $1,000,000 payable to a McDonald Pierangeli Macfarlane, PLLC, client. The case involved an out-of-state motor vehicle accident resulting in serious injuries to a former Michigan resident who had moved to Florida. Her carrier initially rejected her claim and refused to pay her medical bills that exceeded $600,000. McDonald Pierangeli Macfarlane, PLLC, initiated a suit for declaratory relief, culminating with the entry of a judgment in favor of our client.

Dave Pierangeli prevailed in a no-fault priority dispute obtaining a six figure recovery for an insurer represented by McDonald Pierangeli Macfarlane, PLLC.

Dave Pierangeli negotiated a $75,000 settlement for a McDonald Pierangeli Macfarlane, PLLC, client injured in a motor vehicle accident.

Bill McDonald negotiated a series of settlements for family members injured in a tragic automobile accident. Settlement payments totaled in excess of over $500,000. The Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed a judgment obtained by Bill McDonald and Dave Pierangeli in an insurance coverage dispute resulting in an award for McDonald Pierangeli Macfarlane, PLLC, client in excess of $1.3 million dollars.

David Pierangeli obtained a jury verdict of no cause for action in defense of a first-party no-fault insurance case in Mid-Michigan. Plaintiff’s demand was in excess of $50,000.

Bill McDonald defended a first-party PIP action filed in northern Michigan obtaining a jury verdict of no cause for action. Plaintiff’s pretrial demand exceeded $300,000.

Bill McDonald obtained a defense verdict in a first-party PIP attendant care claim tried before a jury in the Upper Peninsula.

Bill McDonald obtained a jury verdict of no cause for action defending a personal injury gun shot case filed in West Michigan.

Bill McDonald and Dave Pierangeli successfully obtained the dismissal without payment of a questionable first party PIP attendant care claim filed in Wayne County.

Dave Pierangeli prevailed in a Michigan Court of Appeals matter involving an out-of-state resident’s eligibility for and/or entitlement to benefits under a non-Michigan automobile insurance policy.

Dave Pierangeli successfully argued the case of Neal v. Wilkes, before the Michigan Supreme Court in which the Court pronounced a new standard for the application of the Recreational Land Use Act. Dave also prevailed in the Court of Appeals on issues involving the proof required by a dependent to establish paternity when seeking no-fault benefits as well as application of the statue of limitations in UCC cases.

Jim Lohr prevailed in the Court of Appeals on a matter involving insurance coverage. The Court of Appeals decision led to a large settlement on behalf of the client who sustained severe injuries in a slip-and-fall accident.
